Dr. Rich has been studying, working with, and treating TMJ Dysfunction
for over 20 years. Using state-of-the-art diagnostic instrumentation
including electromyography, electronic jaw movement tracking and
TMJ sonography, she takes a very comprehensive approach to treatment.
Dr.
Rich believes strongly in a philosophy of conservative and non-surgical
treatment. She works regularly in conjunction with physical therapists,
massage therapists, acupuncturists, and other practitioners to ensure
that each client has a self-care and rehabilitation routine to work
with during treatment.
In most cases, Dr. Rich works very closely with Barbara Sage, LMT,
who has been on Dr. Rich’s staff for over 10 years. Barbara
has received extensive training in the St. John Method of Neuromuscular
Therapy and works with most of our TMJ clients in relieving the
pain and muscle tension often associated with TMJ dysfunction.
Once the initial symptoms of TMJ dysfunction are under control,
Dr. Rich is well-versed in many options for long-term stabilization
of the joints including the use of nighttime oral appliances to
maintain healing, and even orthodontics or full mouth reconstruction
if necessary.
